Find Relief Now and Get Back to Life

Does this sound familiar?

  • You’re in extreme pain, feeling lost or scared, and you can’t wait weeks or months to feel some sense of relief

  • You aren’t sure your schedule allows you to commit to weekly or biweekly therapy sessions so you just keep putting them off

  • Your kids schedule is too hectic and you can’t get consistent childcare every week for sessions

  • You’re feeling stuck in your current therapy routine and feel a need for something different

Then an intensive may be a great fit for you.

*Please note that intensives are all done by telehealth. You get to heal from the comfort of your own home!

Life can be busy, especially in the city. Not sure you can add therapy to your weekly to do list? There’s other options.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

EMDR Intensives are extended therapy sessions that can help to relieve some of the stress, overwhelm, triggers and reactivity you are experiencing in around 3 days. Through the process of EMDR we can diminish the impact of negative emotions and alter the negative self-belief embedded in the memory. This aims to effectively "rewire" the brain and facilitate genuine healing for you. In an intensive session, a significantly larger amount of material can be processed and healed at a faster pace compared to what is achievable in traditional weekly therapy.

Intensive sessions allow you to finish as many as 10 therapy sessions within a week, equivalent to more than six months of therapy within that short timeframe.

Included in Your Intensive:

  • Intake assessment- to figure out a treatment plan that works best for addressing what you’re wanting to work on during the intensives.

  • Personalized Workbook- sent to you 2-3 weeks before the intensive for you to fill out and use during and after our time together as a guide to track your goals and use as a reflection

  • Post intensive follow up assessment- we’ll debrief and discuss what your next steps may look like

Why choose an EMDR intensive vs. a weekly session?

EMDR intensives offer a focused and accelerated therapeutic approach. These sessions are potent and transformative, delving deep into the root of issues and addressing them comprehensively. Unlike weekly therapy, which may feel limiting in its time constraints, intensives provide an opportunity to navigate pain swiftly and smoothly, avoiding the need to reopen emotional wounds on a weekly basis.

  • Similar to a spiritual retreat, EMDR intensives enable rapid mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation within 2-5 days.

  • The focused nature of EMDR intensives makes them more cost-effective for addressing specific traumas compared to weekly therapy sessions that may involve catch-up discussions on daily stressors.

  • Weekly therapy may not be feasible for everyone due to hectic schedules, frequent travel, or caregiving responsibilities. EMDR intensives provide an opportunity for individuals with busy lives to focus on deep inner work.

  • If you already engage in talk therapy or CBT with a regular therapist but struggle with PTSD, EMDR intensives can serve as a valuable adjunct therapy, offering trauma-focused treatment to complement your primary therapeutic work.

Let’s do the math.

A 50 minute EMDR session is $200. Let’s say you see me for 6 months each week. Thats 24 therapy sessions x $200 which is $4,800.

A 3 day intensive, which is 11 sessions total (including the separate intake and follow up session) is $2,225.

Ultimately, you’re spending less money and time in therapy.

If you are considering engaging in intensive work, kindly take into account the following:

  • Intensives are most suitable for individuals who possess the necessary self-regulation and coping skills to employ self-soothing techniques as required during and after the sessions.

  • These intensives are not advisable for clients experiencing high levels of dissociation. In such cases, I recommend exploring "parts work" therapies and proceeding with EMDR Therapy at a slower pace.

  • I request that participants in intensives abstain from drug or alcohol use for a minimum of 24 hours before commencing the intensive, and this abstinence should continue until 24-48 hours after the final intensive session. Maintaining this practice is crucial for the optimal effectiveness of EMDR, as it engages the same part of the brain affected by drugs and alcohol.

  • For your own safety, it is not recommended to undergo intensives if there have been any suicide attempts or serious suicidal thoughts with a clear intent or specific plan within the past year.
